The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has deployed more than 10,000 men and women to assist with operations for this years upcoming Hajj.

Hajj 2019 is expected to draw millions of Hujjaj from almost every country across the globe.

The annual hajj is a massive logistical operation that takes months of planning to accommodate the largest gathering of Muslims anywhere on the planet.

Head of the presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdurahman Al-Sudais says the hajj plan covers 140 initiatives in the administrative, service, guidance, engineering, technical, technological and media.

Sheikh Al-Sudais says there is also a comprehensive guidance program to make hujjaj aware of various aspects of their rituals and enable them to perform them in the best possible manner.

“There are 8,441 toilet units and over 6,000 facilities for taking ablution in the courtyards of the Two Holy Mosques. Serving pilgrims and visitors is a medal of honor for us and is being carried out successfully in its sixth year during the current Hajj season.”

At the same time, the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection says the weather during Hajj in August  is expected to be very hot during the day and evenings.

“An awareness program aimed at avoiding exposure to sun and extreme temperatures was also put in place for both domestic and foreign pilgrims. The ministry has readied 80 well-equipped heavy ambulances and 100 mini ambulances at the holy cities and the holy sites.”

Several eminent scholars will also lead religious classes in addition to distribution of religious and guidance books and leaflets in a number of languages while the presidency has made available instant translation of Friday sermons at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah in at least 10 languages in addition to the sign language.
