Saudi Arabia Coronavirus Total Heading for 100 000

In it’s highest daily count yet, Saudi Arabia on Saturday reported 3,121 new coronavirus cases. The total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom now stands at 98,869.  The first case was reported as recently as March.

The highest count, at 900 cases, comes out of Riyadh, with Jeddah following at 572 cases. Makkah was next with 279 cases, Madinah at 170, and Dammam at 149 cases. Of the new cases 46 percent were Saudis.

Arab News reports that the Saudi Ministry of Health announced 1 175 new recoveries, making the total number 71 791.  With 34 new deaths having reported, the death toll now stands at 676.

Meanwhile, a curfew has been reinstated in Jeddah, from 15H00 until 06H00, amongst other measures reintroduced in the city to slow down the spread of the virus.
