Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 05-10-2018

The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology has finalised developing two reconnaissance satellites to join the second generation of high-accuracy Saudi remote-sensing satellites to be launched this year.

The “Saudi Sat 5A” and 5B” have been manufactured and tested in accordance with the international standards by Saudi experts working in the field of satellite industry and development.

The Saudi Press Agency reports the achievement is a result of the support by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, amongst others.

The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology has launched 13 satellites including launching a developed system for tracking and controlling up to 30,000 ships and ship traffic around the world.

The launch of the two new satellites is part of the Kingdoms Vision 2030 aiming to localize strategic technologies, maximize local content and empower the Saudi youth.
