Saudi Arabia Allows Women to Drive

September 26, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 26-09-2017

Saudi Arabia has reversed its long standing rule and announced that it will allow women to drive for the first time in the kingdom.

According to state news agency SPA, the royal decree signed by King Salman ordered the formation of a ministerial body to give advice within 30 days and then implement the order by June 2018.

The SPA says the royal decree will implement the provisions of traffic regulations, including the issuance of driving licenses for men and women alike.

The announcement was made on state television and in a simultaneous media event in Washington.
