SAPS Institutes Disciplinary Action Against Striking 10111 Workers

October 03, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 03-10-2017

The South African Police Service (Saps) management says it will be instituting disciplinary actions against striking 10111 workers who failed to return to work.

Last week SAPS issued a nationwide directive to striking 10111 workers instructing them to return to work by the 29 September 2017 failing which disciplinary steps would be against employees.

The South African Police Union (Sapu) members went on strike in August demanding a wage hike.

In a statement, the police’s Vishnu Naidoo says SAPU has been made aware of the agreement and that they can no longer claim protection of a protected strike.

“While the majority of these employees have returned to work, some have not and the necessary disciplinary action is being instituted against those members that have chosen not to return to work.”
