SANHA & MJC Squash Fake News About Albany & Sasko

January 28, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 28-01-2017

The South African National Halaal Authority (Sanha) and the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) have confirmed that a social media post indicating halaal certification for Albany and Sasko products has been withdrawn is a hoax and fake news and must be ignored.

The fake post warning Muslims that ingredients in Albany and Sasko products contain evidence of pork has caused a stir on social media and has also been widely shared on WhatsApp.

In a statement Sanha dismissed the post as hoax urging consumers to ignore the misleading message.

“Sanha guarantees that all ingredients in the manufacture of Albany products are halaal, thus Albany Bakery products may be relished with the comfort of halaal assurance.”

The MJC also dispelled the fake post calling it devious, deceitful and malicious and urged consumers to unambiguously dismiss the message as false.

“The Halaal Trust confirms that the bakery products of Sasko are certified by the MJC. Halaal Trust and the Albany Bakery facilities are certified by Sanha.

Both organisations have urged consumers to be vigilant and verify messages before sharing it on social media saying the fake news is created by devious faceless individuals with ill intent to create doubt and misinformation among the Muslim Ummah.
