October 31, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 31-10-2017

Following the devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal in which hundreds of homes were destroyed, Samsung says it has repaired a number of appliances damaged by the storm free of charge.

The severe storm claimed at least 11 lives, damaged five state hospitals and flooded countless homes and buildings in the province.

Aid organisations including Samsung have been working around the clock to assist victims by providing basic necessities such as food, water, clothing and blankets, also aiding victims in rebuilding their homes.

According to Samsung, its Service Department sent out its vans to the worst affected areas to deliver parcels containing food, blankets and other necessities to more than 400 people devastated by the storms.

The company also donated half a million Rand to Gift of the Givers.

Samsung Director of Services Richard Chetty says the company also repaired more than 50 dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators damaged by the flood.

“The response to this drive has been overwhelming and we did this because we want to create positive change for the people affected, we want to help create a better world and this type of action is rooted in our core values.”
