Samsung Introduces Galaxy A8

December 22, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 22-12-2017

Samsung has announced the latest addition to the Galaxy A series: the Galaxy A8.

The Galaxy A8 features a 5.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED 1080 x 2220 bezel-less infinity display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The device has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD. Powering the handset is an as-yet-unnamed octa-core 2.2GHz processor and 3,000mAh battery.

It also sports a 16MP F1.7 rear camera and 16MP+8MP F1.9 Dual Front Camera.

Craige Fleischer, Vice President of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa says this is the first time that the Galaxy A series features an infinity display and dual camera’s with live focus, features that the Korean company has adopted from its flagship devices.

“The Galaxy A8 exemplify our continued dedication to meeting the needs of our consumers by providing them with greater choice and convenience.”

Elsewhere, you’ll find the volume rocker on the left edge, and the power button on the right, while the solitary USB Type-C port sits at the bottom for charging. A fingerprint reader is on the back, just below the rear camera.

Shaky video footage will be a thing of the past with video digital image stabilisation (VDis) technology, and with an added hyperlapse feature, you can now create time-lapse videos that let you record, tell and share even longer stories.

The large screen is supported with ergonomic curved glass on the back and front.

Offering IP68 water and dust resistance, the Galaxy A8 can withstand the elements, including sweat, rain, sand and dust, making it suitable for nearly any activity or situation and are the first in the A series to support Samsung’s Gear VR.

The Galaxy A8 is available in four colours including black, orchid grey, gold and blue and will be available in early January 2018 with no indication of price.
