The spot where Sajdah is made must be inline with the body. If the spot of Sajdah is higher than the feet, for example a person makes Sajdah on a porch, then check how much higher it is. If it is more than a span, the Salaah will not be proper. But if it is equal to a span or less than that, the Salaah will be valid. However, it is Makruh (undesirable) to do so unnecessarily.
