The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has urged Mu’tamireen to exercise caution when booking Umrah packages with New Heights Travel.

In a statement, Sahuc says it has received a number of Umrah complaints about New Heights which is owned by travel operator Fazila Malek.

Sahuc says it has engaged the respective operator but the meeting reached an impasse.

It’s alleged that New Heights has failed to refund customers who booked and paid for Umrah packages, which did not materialise.

An attorney’s letter from New Heights apologised for the debacle citing the delay as beyond the control of the operator and that refunds would be issued within twenty-one days or by 20 November.

According to Sahuc’s statement, no refunds have yet been issued to Mu’tamireen affected.

Sahuc has recommended that Mu’tamireen only book with Ministry of Hajj accredited Umrah operators.
