The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has released the second accreditation list for 1438/2017 following the increase in the hajj quota by the Ministry of Hajj.
SAHUC yesterday confirmed it met with the Ministry of Hajj and was officially notified of the 20% re-instatement of the quota that was reduced in 1433/2012.
The previous hajj quota for South Africa was 2,000.
SAHUC President Shaheen Essop has appealed to all prospective hujjaj to accept the accreditation by no later than the 6th of February 2017 to avoid penalties.
“Alhamdulillah following the increase we have received in the quota from the Ministry of Hajj, SAHUC is pleased to announce that the second release of the accreditation list has just been released this morning. 601 persons have been accredited.”
Essop says the extra 101 prospective hujjaj who have been accredited stems from cancellations from the previous list that was released earlier this year.
