Lenasia based NGO, Saaberie Chisty Ambulance has raised a significant amount of funds to continue its dedicated emergency medical service to the Lenasia community and surrounds.

The non-profit organization held its annual fundraising dinner under the theme “A Night Under the African Sky” at the Unisa Conference Centre in Ormonde, Johannesburg on Saturday.

The function was attended by Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Andries Nel, Gauteng MEC for Roads & Transport Ismail Vadi and Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety Michael Sun amongst others.

Saaberie Chishty’s Abu Sayed says the ambulance service has made a commitment to the community of Lenasia and surrounding areas, to provide a much-needed emergency medical service and will continue doing so going forward.

“The president launched the Thuma Mina Campaign a few months ago pleading with businesses to give back to the community. This is not new to us. Together we have been doing this for the last 31 years and we hope to improve the ‘give back form.’”

During banquet, Saaberie Chishty auctioned off a number of items including autographed shirts and boots of football stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Mo Salaah and Pele to raise the much-needed funds for the organization.
