November 04, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 04-11-2018

NGO Saaberie Chishty Society says its new ghusal khana, ambulance and welfare divisions will go a long way to continue assisting communities in Johannesburg.

The organization which was formed more than fifty years ago had a preview of the new divisions on Saturday for donors and select members of the public ahead of the official opening on the 2nd of December.

The project which cost about R3.5m boasts a state of the art ghusal facility with a whudu khana for men and women and an ambulance control room including amenities for on-duty paramedics.

Saaberie Chishty says there was a desperate need for the upgrade of its facility’s as it provides ambulance and burial services to communities in, Lenasia, Eldorado Park, Ennerdale, Soweto, Bosmont and Lehae amongst others including to foreign nationals.

It also says there was a lack of space at its current Dhalia Avenue premises including the need to be compliant for a burial service as required by the Health Department.

Spokesperson Akhiel Osmany says the new divisions will also provide other services including training.

“This is not just a ghusal facility, it’s a learning facility as well. We are going to start doing ghusal classes weekly where individuals need to come, youngsters need to come, they need to partake and revive this aspect of death and ghusal because it an ultimate destination for all.”

Osmany has thanked all the donors for their support and indicates that the parking area and entrance to the facility is expected be paved before the opening.
