The South African Weather Service has warned of severe thunderstorms in Gauteng that could possibly lead to localised flooding.
It says there is a 60% chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the province that are likely to continue into Thursday.
Heavy storms on Saturday and Sunday caused disruptions in Gauteng, damaging property, uprooting trees with lightning damaging electricity pylons in Lenasia South leaving residents without power.
The SA Weather Service says the rainy conditions is expected to clear up by the weekend.
“These storms are likely to result in localised flooding and could therefore impact adversely on road infrastructure, low-water bridges, farmlands as well as informal settlements. Some of these storms may become severe, with a chance of large, damaging hail and/or strong, destructive surface winds over some areas.”
The South African Weather Service says it will continue to monitor any further developments relating to this weather system.
