The South African weather service has warned Gauteng residents of extreme weather conditions this weekend.

Forecasters say that heavy rainfall will begin Saturday until Sunday with temperatures expected to drop to between 24 and 26 degrees.

Parts of Gauteng, Limpopo, the eastern parts of the Free State, Mpumalanga and Kwazulu-Natal are also expected to see heavy showers and thundershowers over the weekend.

Forecaster Bransby Bulo says conditions are expected to improve from Monday.

“We are expecting a lot of rain over Gauteng this weekend starting from today. The SA Weather Service has issued a warning of possible flooding, especially areas like the informal settlements starting from tomorrow maybe even to Sunday morning.”
