The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned Gauteng residents to brace for extremely cold weather conditions starting on Tuesday.
The weather service says the mercury is likely to dip below zero as a cold front hits the province.
“Johannesburg will see below zero temperatures for Wednesday going up to 14, while Pretoria will experience a maximum of between 19 and 17 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.”
It says Gauteng, as well as the eastern highveld of Mpumalanga can also expect a few rumbles of thunder and some rain.
The weather service says that while the southern half of the country will remain cold on Thursday, temperatures are expected to recover gradually thereafter.
