South Africa has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in the country.
The Health Department says another 1,599 more infections were also picked up over the past day, pushing the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic a year to more than 1 561,559
Seventy-five more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 53,498
Our recovery rate is 95% with 1,486,873 people having recuperated from the virus.
On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed concern that the COVID-19 pandemic could worsen in the Middle East and North Africa during the blessed month of Ramadan.
