South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll continues its grim climb with another 616 deaths recorded on Friday.
These latest fatalities bring the national Coronavirus death toll to 32,425.
The Health Ministry says another 21,980 infections have been recorded as the country battles the second wave of the pandemic under level 3 of the COVID-19 lockdown.
The latest cases published have pushed the known number of infections since the start of the outbreak to 1,192,570.
The ministry says the recovery rate currently stands 79.5 % meaning that 947, 919 people who have recuperated.
South Africa currently stand at number 16 globally in terms of the number of Coronavirus infections worldwide.
