SA Muslim Man Who Passed Away in Syria to be buried on Wednesday

April 30, 2013

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 2013-04-30

The janaaza (funeral) of Mitchells Plain businessman Mustafa Wilson who was killed in a fatal accident in Syria on Friday will probably take place on Wednesday afternoon (01 May) at Masjidur Rawbie after Asr salaah (late afternoon prayer).

Speaking on Voice of the Cape’s Breakfast Beat on Tuesday, Maulana Igsaan Hendricks, president of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) said that while they had expected Wilson's body to be flown home on Monday evening to arrive on Tuesday, the delay was brought about by necessary paperwork that still needed to be completed to facilitate the return.

"In our early feedback after dealing with our representatives in Turkey on Friday, we had to take cognisance of the fact that little could be done over the weekend," Hendricks added.

Three other members of the delegation injured in the accident, Ml Abdul Khaliq Allie, and Abrahams' son in law, Hafith Masood Isaacs, have been moved out of the ICU into the general ward and are recovering well while Pietermaritzburg volunteer, Hafith Sadiq Saeed, remains in a serious condition.

Hendricks confirmed that the three injured men would not be able to travel home for at least another 10 – 15 days, until their health improves.

The delegation was reportedly on their way to the town of Azaaz, located about 25 km from Syria’s northern border with Turkey in the Aleppo region on Friday when the driver of the vehicle they had been travelling in lost control and crashed into a ditch.
