South Africa has now recorded 208,144 recoveries which translates to 54% of the total infections in the country.
The Health Department has also announced that the number of COVID-19 infections has risen to 381,798.
This is an increase of 8,170 from Monday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 195 bringing the total to 5,368
Gauteng has the most infections with 139,435 followed by Western Cape at 86,329, Eastern Cape at 66,759, KwaZulu-Natal 47,685, Free State 11,352, North West 14,634, Mpumalanga 7,664, Limpopo 5,355, Northern Cape 2,539 and unallocated infections 46.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 2,536,921 this is an increase of 31,275 which were done in the last 24 hours.
“Regrettably, we report a further 195 COVID-19 related deaths – this brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 5,368.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
