The South African Weather Service says Gauteng residents should brace themselves for a cold and wet weekend as a cold front slowly makes its way to the province.
The Western Cape will be hit first with temperatures already dipping from tomorrow with snowfall expected over the high lying areas.
Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga will escape much of the front’s effects but it will become colder for these areas by Monday especially overnight.
Weather SA says Gauteng residents will feel the effects of the cold front from Sunday into next week.
Forecaster Dipuo Tawana says: “In Gauteng we are expecting to feel the effect of the cold front more over Monday. The temperatures are expected to drop on Monday.”
The weather service has also warned the public about hoax messages doing the rounds on social media, specifically WhatsApp.
It’s urged the public to consult the official sites of the weather service.
