Rameez Patel Murder Case Postponed to September

July 07, 2015

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-07-07

The case against a Polokwane businessman accused of murdering his wife has been postponed until September for further investigation.

Rameez Patel is accused of shooting his wife Fatima in April.

Magistrate Mohammad Sheik released him on R250,000 bail last month, with conditions that he report to the local police station three times a day, and that he hand over his passport.

Patel’s bail application was amended by the magistrate after an application was submitted by his legal team.

The police’s Ronell Otto says he can now move around more freely.

“He can now move around in Polokwane but he’s not allowed to go out of the Polokwane jurisdiction without informing the police and getting their approval.”

She says Patel will now only have to report to police once a day, while the conditions on his children have also been relaxed.

Patel has maintained his innocence and is adamant his wife was killed by robbers.

He is due back in court on 22 September. – EWN
