Judgment in the second bail application of a Polokwane man accused of murdering his wife will be handed down in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court next Tuesday.
Rameez Patel is accused of killing his wife Fatima last month.
He has pleaded ‘not guilty’ and is adamant his wife was killed by a burglar.
It was another tense day in court as the state began its closing arguments.
While protestors chanted for bail to be denied outside court, State Prosecutor, Advocate Mark van Drunick, told the court that he had received several threats.
But Rameez Patel’s attorney Tumi Mokwena countered by saying the threats had nothing to do with his client as he was in custody.
The police’s Nohlaka Mashiane said, “It’s still the subject of investigation.”
A relative of Fatima’s family, Miriam Bhamjee, says they are relieved the bail application has come to an end and hope bail is denied. – EWN
