President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Monday night at 8pm, according to a source in the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC).
The address has been confirmed by the President’s office as well.
The president is expected to extend lockdown regulations. Sources reveal we can expect to stay in lockdown level 3 and the curfew times will be slightly amended. Some borders may also be closed.
The expected address by Ramaphosa comes after a week of soaring coronavirus infections. For four consecutive days, the country recorded more than 20,000 new infections daily with more than 17,000 this past Sunday.
