Closing off the ANC’s 6th National Policy Conference in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Sunday, ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says he is optimistic that the party’s renewable policy is unstoppable.

Despite the party facing financial woes and divided members, Ramaphosa says the conference has proven that the ANC is still alive.

“This policy conference does give us hope for the future of our movement, it does send a clear signal to our members, our supporters and the people of this country, whatever our challenges, our shortcomings, the ANC is alive.”

Speaking at the conference, ANC Gauteng Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi says that the ANC is the people’s choice; however, the party should not feel entitled to its position.

“We must stop thinking we’re entitled to govern the people. But there’s no option besides the ANC, who has the capabilities to run the country like us, you can’t give it to FF+, ACDP who don’t want to believe that we’re not equal as men and women… not the DA who thinks black people are not entitled to be here.”

Closing the conference, Ramaphosa says the ANC delegates have made recommendations to tackle the increased cost of living, unemployment and poverty. Adding that urgent measures will be put into place shortly.
