The African National Congress (ANC) has announced the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday to discuss President Jacob Zuma’s fate has been postponed.
The party says its president Cyril Ramaphosa postponed the special NEC meeting to 17 and 18 February after discussions between him and Zuma.
Speaking to EWN, ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe confirmed the meeting on Tuesday night between Rampahosa and Zuma but did not divulge details of what they were discussing.
“I can confirm that it has been postponed and that the president of the country and the president of the ANC are having constructive engagements.”
Earlier on Tuesday Speaker Baleka Mbete announed that the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2018 that was dued to take place on Thurday has been postponed.
Mbete says a new date for the State of the Nation Address will be announced soon.
