President Cyril Rampahosa has many plans to rejuvenate South Africa, and among those is to encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Ramaphosa made waves last week when he was captured walking along the Sea Point Promenade with former finance minister Trevor Manuel on Thursday morning.
The newly elected 65-year-old head of state has already built a reputation as a fit and active person.
On Tuesday Ramaphosa walked five kilometres from the Gugulethu Sports Complex to Athlone Stadium.
Spokesperson Tyrone Seale says Ramaphosa has been a walking enthusiast for a considerable period of time.
Seale says Ramaphosa is trying to inculcate a healthy lifestyle in all South Africans.
“He launched the hashtag #TummyMustFall saying that he really would like to see all South Africans becoming active and developing the energy required to build a South Africa that is even better then the one in which we live today.”
Last month, lucky beachgoers spotted Ramaphosa, then deputy president, walking along an East London beachfront.
