President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 12,074
This is an increase of 724 from Tuesday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 13 bring the total to 219
Ramaphosa was addressing the nation on Wednesday night about the ongoing measures put in place by government to manage the spread of the coronavirus through the implementation of a risk-adjusted strategy.
The president’s address follows a number of meetings of Cabinet and the coronavirus National Command Council (NCCC).
Ramaphosa announced that by the end of May, most the country will drop to level 3 of the national COVID-19 lockdown.
