As we embrace Ramadhaan, we gather at the Masjid; we fulfil our daily prayers and awaken our hearts and soul again.

Little do we realise that it is in Ramadhaan that families gather around the table for Iftaar and Suhoor. Most homes lack this precious gift due to other priorities that many are challenged with.

Families create peace; relationships are mended before this sacred month. Ibaadah is increased, and even behaviour throughout the month is rectified—bliss and serenity within this precious month dawn upon us. We must realise how much barakaah this brings into our homes and lives and how these little gatherings uplift our family ties.

The Prophet (saw) said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should unite the bond of kinship (i.e. keep good relation with his Kith and kin).”

Narrated by Anas bin Malik: I heard Allah’s Prophet say, “Whoever desires an expansion in his sustenance and age should keep good relations with his kith and kin.”

Ramadhaan enables us to remove the blindfolds to rebuild broken kinships because we want to grasp and achieve every blessing.

Let us grasp this beautiful fragrance of Ramadhaan, the serenity and peace and let it uplift us into becoming greater even after it passes us. Let us allow this sacred month to better ourselves and live in its reflection.

“Live every day of your life like Ramadan, and your Hereafter will become your Eid.”
