Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 19-09-2018

Radio Islam has announced it will be hosting the Masjid awards to recognise the efforts and role the institutions play in Muslim communities throughout South Africa.

As a first of its kind in the country, the awards will focus on governance and activities of masaajid, the role of the Imam and the services it provides, amongst others.

With one of the most diverse Muslim communities across the globe, South African masaajid have significant roles to fulfil with the foundation of its success depending on strategies, effort and role players.

Radio Islam’s Ml Yusuf Omar says considering the importance of the masaajid, there is a need to recognise and acknowledge excellence.

“The masjid plays an important role in the community. It is a centre to service the community and as such it is important to highlight the achievements and the outstanding work that is being performed by some individuals and communities.”

In a hadith Abu Hurairah (RA) reports that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “The most beloved of places to Allah are the Masaajid.”- (Muslim).

Details of the awards will be revealed soon and all Masaajid across the country are welcome to enter.
