Radio Islam International has been rewarded for another stellar year by receiving further recognition at the Liberty Radio Awards – with the latest achievements acknowledged by mainstream media over the past weekend.

The KwaZulu-Natal based Sunday Tribune carried an article noting that the Lenasia-based broadcaster was a growing stakeholder in the South African community.

This after it received nine (9) nominations in the various award categories for the ceremony held in Sandton last weekend.

The story, entitled ‘Radio Islam scoops an esteemed award’ reported that the station’s morning drive time programme, Sabaahul Muslim, won the award for the best news and actuality show in the community segment’s ” News and Actuality” category.

Furthermore, it also praised Radio Islam International station manager, Moulana Haider Ali Dhorat, for being inducted into the Liberty Radio Awards’ esteemed Hall of Fame.

Ml Dhorat’s recognition, according to the report for his ‘leadership and contribution to the industry for over 20 years’, was the cherry on the top.

The story, written by Karinda Jagmohan, described Radio Islam as a niche-market radio station that focuses on Islamic content.
