Radio Islam launches programming for Dhul Hijjah 1436H

September 14, 2015

umm Abdillah, Radio Islam Programming | 2015.09.14 | 29 Thul Qa’ada 1436 AH

It was all systems go on Radio Islam this morning when we launched our programming line-up for the Hajj season 1436 Hijri. Buzzing energy from team members in our Johannesburg studios and from our correspondents and contributors on the east coast, in Makkatul Mukarramah, Aziziya, Jeddah and Malaysia was felt by all our listeners.

This Dhul Hijjah, Radio Islam highlights the sacrifices of the friend of Allah, Nabi Ibrahim (AS) and his family with our central theme Timeless Sacrifice.

True success requires sacrifice. Sacrifice develops the spiritual self, enhances character and gives meaning and direction to our lives. Most importantly, it is a living testimony of love for our Creator, Allah Almighty.

Some of the features highlighted this morning:

Our Father Tribute – Ibrahim (AS)’s life journey is one that epitomises the spirit of sacrifice, especially as a father. Radio Islam invites written entries for our Fathers’ Tribute on the topic: “How my father sacrificed for me to become the Muslim I am today.”

Mini Documentary – Listen to our 10-part mini documentary on South East Asia – home to the world’s largest Muslim nation. Haafizah Rayhaanah Omar will tell the story of how they prepare and sacrifice for this life-altering journey.

On the ground Hajj reporters – We bring the latest, live updates with reporters stationed at all the Hajj sites – Moulana Abdur Rahman Laily, Brother Faizel Patel, and Sister Ammarah.

Hajj Portal – Hajj Radio Islam has always been recognised as the best source for Hajj news. Our annual Hajj Desk resumes, bringing you the latest news from our team of seasoned journalists led by Brother Ejaz Khan.

Hajj from a Nigerian perspective – We track a young Nigerian couple, Sister Aisha Ahmed and her husband, and experience Hajj through the eyes of fellow African citizens.

“Finders, Sheepers” Competition – Win 1 of 5 sheep from Bob’s Farm for Udhiyyah this year. The sheep are at different locations in South Africa. We’ll provide 3 daily clues at 07h30, 10h45 and 18:15. After every clue is mentioned, lines will be opened.  If you identify the location correctly, you will win a sheep. The competition runs from 18th – 23rd September 2015.

Hajj memoir – Daily readings from German author, Ilija Trojanow’s memoir “Mumbai to Mecca” with Umm Abdillah.

Celebrity Hajj  – Tracking the Hajj of famous people on Hajj 2015.

Hajj in their Words – A special social media feature wherein popular South African scholars and orators recount their Hajj in one sentence.

Follow our hashtag #riHajj2015. We were trending on Twitter before 8am this morning! Trust us to bring Hajj 1436H home. Ameen.
