Radio Islam News Team – 28/01/2016

A pupil was severely beaten and assaulted for allegedly waking up a teacher who was sleeping during school hours.

Teacher-Learner violence is in the forefront once again after a grade 10 pupil, was allegedly beaten in full view of fellow pupils at Lemetja Secondary School in Limpopo.

The learner sustained injuries to his face and body as a result of the assault last week Thursday.

“I could only hide my face as he attacked me. He kicked me all over my body and I’m still in pain”. The boy said.

Community leader Gabriel Chipana, led a group of concerned parents to voice their disapproval of the teacher’s behaviour, saying they want him removed from the school.

Spokesman for the Provincial Department of Education Naledzani Rasila said the matter is under investigation.
