Protestors have blocked R554 between Scorpio Drive and the Rietfontein fire station on Wednesday with rocks and burning tyres.
It’s believed they are protesting over land.
The protest comes as matriculants start their final examinations on Wednesday.
The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar has urged motorists to use alternate routes.
“We have sent officers to inspect. There is a possibility of protest of the R554. There is a possibility that it’s over illegal land invasion. Motorists should be cautious. Motorists are advised at this stage to avoid the R554 and rather take the N12 as an alternate route or the R558”
Minnaar says the JMPD will be monitoring the area.
