Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Perfect Example Against Gender-Based Violence & Abuse

August 08, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 08-08-2018

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa says the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was a mercy unto mankind and served as a perfect example by never abusing anyone or committing any violence against any person.

Jamiat SA together with the Islamic Care Line launched the Gender-Based Violence Campaign at the Palm Continental Hotel in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The campaign which is expected to last until the end of the year aims to highlight the high growth of gender-based violence within South African and Muslim communities.

Speaking during the launch, secretary general of Jamiat SA Ml Ebrahim Bham says there is no level of society that is free from gender-based violence.

“This goes across religious backgrounds, ethnic and race and it is something that is not only within any specific community and therefore the need for us to make our voices as part of the greater South African voice in speaking against gender-based violence. We re facing a situation that is eating away at the very fabric of our society.”

Ml Bham says one of the reasons that may be over looked as a contributor of gender-based violence is a lack of fear for Allah.

“This is something that the Prophet of Almighty Allah constantly called upon us, to take the Almighty into account even in the most private of your moments.”

Ml Bham says part of the gender-based Violence campaign is to encourage ownership and responsibility for personal safety and preservation, up scaling and enhancing existing psychosocial and other support services to ensure there is holistic healing for survivors.
