Incoming Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato says the process of unifying the Democratic Alliance has already begun.
Plato was speaking to Radio Islam in an interview this morning after being sworn in as a councillor of the city on Thursday.
He says that he is looking forward to taking the reins and sorting out the problems which need to be addressed within the party.
“There are issues we need to get out of the way, the fact that the caucus seems to be a little divided but we are eliminating that, and I think we (are) 95% there.”
Without mentioning any names, Plato says the independent Bowman’s report implicates councillors and the former Mayor.
“With issues like that, people never look at what they have done and they always point the finger at the party, but that is normal practice in many ways.”
Plato says the opportunity to serve the public of Cape Town is both an honour and a challenge.
