Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has expressed his shock and outrage at the fatal shooting of the principal of Buyani Primary School in Finetown.
It is understood the principal was shot dead on Friday at the school.
Lesufi is expected to visit the school and engage those affected by the incident
The MEC says the department is shocked by the shooting and urged the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
“Without even knowing the motive for this heartless act, we condemn the shooting of the principal of Buyani Primary and send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. We further call on our law enforcement agencies to pull all the stops to ensure the perpetrators of this senseless crime are brought to book.”
Lesufi says the department’s Psycho-Social Unit will also visit the school to provide all the necessary assistance to learners and educators.
