The Presidency has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on Sunday night.
Ramaphosa last addressed the nation about two weeks ago where he announced that the country would remain under lockdown level 4.
The president also announced further measures to help curb the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the country.
Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshaveni says Ramaphosa is expected to brief the nation on government interventions to rebuild the economy following the unrest in the country last week.
“As of next week, we plan to commence with economic intervention package briefings with the economic cluster ministers. This will happen after the president has addressed the nation this Sunday.”
With the COVID-19 infection rate showing a downward trend this week, there is hope that some of the stricter measures including social, political and religious gatherings will be lifted.
