The Secretary of the Zondo Commission of Inquiry Into State Capture, Professor Itumeleng Mosala, is on Friday morning expected to officially hand over the fourth part of the State Capture Report to the Presidency. It was initially expected to be delivered at the beginning of April.

Eskom, the Free State asbestos scandal and the R1 billion housing project debacle in that province are expected to be the focus of the report.

The Presidency will then publish this section of the report shortly after Mosala presents it to the Presidency at 10 a.m.

On January 4, Chief Justice and Commission Chairperson Judge Raymond Zondo presented the first part of the report to President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria.

Meanwhile, the Pretoria High Court has granted a six-week extension to the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture to complete the final report. It is the seventh extension to be granted to the Commission.

Zondo told the SABC on Thursday (April 28): “We are at the tail-end of it now. My staff and I completed part four of the report and it was then electronically sent to the Presidency. The Commission had a lot of evidence on very important issues and we have taken the view that we need to be thorough in terms of the analysis of evidence because the findings we make affect people. They affect people’s reputations.”

Part five of the report includes investigations into the SABC, the State Security Agency, Estina Dairy Farm, the Waterkloof landing by associates of the Gupta family, and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa.
