The presidency has rejected reports that Jacob Zuma intends to fire Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and replace him with Nkozanza Dlamini-Zuma saying the allegation are preposterous and outrageous.
The presidency was responding to a press release by the South African Communist Party (SACP) calling on Zuma to deny or confirm “credible” information that he planned to fire Ramaphosa and replace him with the former African Union Commission chair.
The SACP says Zuma’s conduct was “reckless and unacceptable”.
The Presidency’s Bongani Ngqulunga says the allegations are completely baseless.
“The allegations of ethnic mobilisation by the president are equally without foundation.”
