Police are searching for a group of criminals after they robbed a mobile phone shop in Gemsbok Street in Lenasia opposite the temporary taxi rank.

It is understood the owner was at the shop with his friend on Saturday when the five suspects stormed in ordering them to lie on the floor.

Police say two of the suspects were armed.

Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande says police are investigating a case of business robbery.

“They searched them and took cash and other items to an undisclosed amount of money. They walked out of the shop. He later noticed that the assailants drove away in a getaway car an unidentified Volkswagen Polo.”

Ndimande has urged anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the criminals to contact the police.
