PM Brown says Mugabe can attend EA summit

October 22, 2007

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he has not tried to stop Zim President Robert Mugabe from attending the Euro-Africa summit in Lisbon.

Earlier reports suggested that Brown will boycott the summit if Mugabe attends.

South African President Thabo Mbeki and Brown had informal talks just before the rugby game in France this weekend.

Mbeki briefed Brown about the situation in Zimbabwe.
