The Energy Department has announced that the price of both grades of petrol will decrease by 10 cents per litre from Wednesday, 2 June.

The prices of different grades of diesel (0.05% sulphur) increases by 21 cents per litre and (0.005% sulphur) by 20 cents per litre while illuminating paraffin will increase by 20 cents per litre.

The price of LP gas decreases by  R1.43 per kg.

The Energy Department says the main reason for the fuel price adjustments is due to the average Brent Crude oil price increasing from 64.16 USD to 66.00 USD per barrel during the period under review

“The oil prices remain at high levels as the season for oil demand is approaching, and the lockdown restrictions are lifted in most European countries and the United States of America.”

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors
