The Automobile Association (AA) says motorists should brace for a petrol price increase in August.
Petrol is expected to increase by around 20 cents a litre, while diesel is predicted to go up by nearly 31 cents and illuminating paraffin by 27 cents.
The AA says the increase has been driven by the weaker Rand against the US Dollar.
“The Rand accounted for about two-thirds of the hike, with a slight uptick in international fuel prices contributing the remainder.”
The AA warned if the Rand continues its volatile trend, there could be more petrol price hikes.
