Parts of Gauteng Rocked by 2.8 Magnitude Tremor

The South African Council of Geoscience has confirmed that an earth tremor with a magnitude of 2.8 on Gauteng’s West Rand.

It occurred at about midday and was felt in Roodepoort, Randfontein and parts of Krugersdorp.

The epicentre was around 5km South East of Randfontein.

Over the weekend, Cape Town felt the earth shake as well due to tremors just north of Durbanville which were unrelated to a strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake, about 1,600km offshore.

No Tsunami warning was issued.
