Anadolu Agency reports that baton wielding Israeli police attacked Palestinians praying outside the Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem. The attack by Israeli forces took place on Thursday night.
10 people were injured, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, with one having to be taken to a hospital. Others were treated at the scene.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ally, Israeli lawmaker Itamar Ben-Gvir, had intended to make a public statement in front of the Damascus Gate earlier on Thursday. Anadolu Agency, reports that this had escalated tensions.
Palestinians who protested against Ben-Gvir were attacked by Israeli police with stun grenades. Further, there were children amongst those arrested.
