Outrage after Saudi Embassy Nominates Single Doctor to Administer Hajj & Umrah Vaccines

January 16, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 16-01-2017

There has been outrage following a statement by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in South Africa that vaccinations to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would be administered by only one medical doctor.

The embassy issued a statement today saying it will accept only medical reports/vaccinations which are required for Saudi visas from designated physician Dr. Junaid Hoosen from the Family Medical Centre in Sandton.

Activist Yusuf Abramjee says the Muslim community urgently needs to voice its objections to the Saudi Arabian directive.

“The circular from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia embassy in South Africa is outrageous. Surely it doesn’t make sense to have only one doctor to administer the medicals and the vaccinations. I’ve spoken to the deputy ambassador who has undertaken to immediately look into the matter and possibly revoke the letter.”

Abramjee says an online petition has been created calling on the embassy to revoke its decision.
