No injuries or damages were reported after a 2.5 magnitude earthquake hit the holy city of Medina Munawwarah in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Geological Society told Arab News, the center of the earthquake was 14km northwest of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s city at a depth of 7 kilometers below the surface.
Tariq Aba Al-Khail, a spokesman for the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection, says the tremor was nothing major.
“The tremor was weak and not dangerous…small tremors occur often in the Kingdom.”
Medina Munawwarah is the location of Masjid-un-Nabawi (Prophet’s Masjid), the second most holiest site in the world after the haram in Makkah and is also the resting place of Islam’s last prophet, Muhammad (PBUH).
