The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) says there has been no official communication from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia regarding additional visa charges for Umrah.
Concerns have been raised about new amendments to the visa fee structure as many mutamireen plan an Umrah journey to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
SAHUC’s Shaheen Essop says they have written to the Ministry of Hajj Umrah Division and their diplomatic core to ascertain what the correct structure is as far Umrah visas are concerned.
“The last document that we have seen emanates from Singapore where it speaks about two thousands Riyals for the repeat mutamireen in a specific Hijri year. But from another embassy on the African continent namely Lusaka, there is no distinction made or no specification made, hence sowing confusion.”
Essop says SAHUC will disseminate information as soon as it receives official information from Saudi authorities.
