Islamic services centre Darul Ihsaan says the Nkandla Mega Muslim event is to present Islam to Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini and his clan by the Muslim scholars from the Mkhize family.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the occassion which takes place near Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal this weekend.

Guests of honour include the King Goodwill Zwelithini, Shaykh, Ibrahim Baye Haiba, local tribal authorities and Induna’s, municipal mayors and councillors and Islamic scholars.

Darul Ihsan’s Mufti Zubair Bhayat told Radio Islam the event is an occasion for the Mkhize clan which number 4 million people and include many Muslims to be officially endorsed by the King Goodwill Zwelithini.

“That means that many others would be encouraged to view Islam in a favourable light and hopefully encouraged to study Islam and Allah is the One that gives guidance, we hope that Insha’Allah many will be guided to deen-ul-Islam.”

Mufti Bhayat says that that current and contemporary misconceptions and misnomers of Islam will be addressed by the many special guests which include Muslim scholars like secretary General of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Moulana Ebrahim Bham, organiser Moulana Abbas Mkhize and other religious leaders and faith groups.

“It’s very important that the community should do a lot of dua on this occasion and we hope that sisters at home will read Yaseen for the success of the event and Allah make it a great and historic event that will result it a lot of goodness coming out.”

Mufti Bhayat says Darul Ihsan along with other organisations including the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) will be playing a supporting role during the occasion.
